This little back-and-forth Bush Presidency thing has been going on for a while now. If you've been following it then you may as well continue on. Here's the original, the first retort and now the rebuttal although they are all contained below in different coloured text so you can easily figue out who is saying what.

Law Enforcement:
I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and is not available.

Correction: George Bush did get a DUI at the age of 30. And paid the penalty that went along with it which in 1976 was a 30 day suspended license. Looks like he "did the time for the crime".

Non-Correction: Still did the crime.

Military:
I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

Correction: George Bush was never AWOL from the National Guard. This is an unsubstantiated rumor that has been presented as fact.

Non-Correction: He still has not proved his point. Unless you are convicted of AWOL you will get paid and get an honorable discharge. No one can with confidence identify him as being there. I work with the guard all the time. They are a very close organization. Any new member would be remembered, since I here stories about people from the 60’s.

College:
I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.

Correction: Graduating from Yale at all is impressive. How many of your friends and family members that you know are successful and never graduated college. Ever hear of Bill Gates?

Non-Correction: Bush got in with scores that a normal person could not get in with and only came out with a low C average. Basically meaning that some of those classes were D’s or failures. Hardly impressive.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

I ran for US Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

Correction: Abraham Lincoln lost the first time he ran for the legislature and lost twice running for the Senate. The company, Arbusto, did not go bankrupt it was purchased by Spectrum 7 Energy Corporation.

Non-Correction: He never said that another president didn’t do it. Besides Lincoln resided over the worst era in US history. Hardly one to compare to. Arbusto merged onto spectrum 7 which was absorbed by Harkin which Bush heard was tanking and he sold all his stock but his connection kept him from being charged with insider trading, which did go bankrupt.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.

Correction: George Bush put together a GROUP to Purchase the rangers. He was only a managing partner, just like most teams in baseball have a group of investors. Most cities own the stadiums and the land that go with them. The city is the one that used eminent domain and "took" the land.

Non-Correction: Bush had an 11.8 percent ownership of the team. The Arlington Sports Facilities Development Authority was a front for the teams owners that used eminent domain. They did not pay the tax payers back and profited from the revenue. The people won 11 Million dollars in settlement because of the practices that Bush refused to pay. It was not paid until the new owners took over the team.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS:

I changed Texas pollution laws to favour power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

Correction: Texas is not the most polluted state in the union. According to the American Lung Association California again leads the charts in counties and metropolitan areas with the most ozone-polluted air and In Texas, the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria area ranked as the fifth most-polluted metropolitan area. Both Laredo, TX and Brownsville-Harlingen-San Benito, TX, however, made the list of the 20 metropolitan areas with the least ozone air pollution. The American Lung Association State of the Air 2003 Report states that 6 of the top 10 most polluted areas are in California and only 1 is in Texas. Of the top 25 only 2 are in Texas.

Non-Correction: While not making the top of the list the change in pollution laws did Texans no favor. Fifth is not good.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.

Correction: Texas is not bankrupt and has actually seen a growth in the state income. In 1995 during his first year as governor Texas had total revenue of $38.68 Billion. In 2000 Texas state revenue was $49.84 Billion a 28% increase in a 5 year time frame. Each year the Revenue to the State Increased. This is an average increase of 5.2% per year. As always a tax cut will increase revenue to the taxing authority.

Non-Correction: Actually both statements were wrong. Bush never got the tax cuts he asked for and the state is not bankrupt. Bush wanted a VAT system like Europe to make up for his business tax cuts. He also wanted to raise property taxes. They were both voted down. Bush spent the surplus on the tax cuts. He in no way bankrupt the state but in no way was he helpful to the poor.

I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history.

Correction: George Bush followed the law by signing execution orders for death row prisoners. These were prisoners who were convicted by a jury and exhausted all appeals. They were sentenced to death for cold blood murders and rapes.

Non-Correction: Bush is responsible for some of the most questionable executions by any governor. Mentally retarded, circumstantial evidence, poor defense council. If you don’t stop them, you are responsible.

With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes.

Correction: Jeb Bush had nothing to do with the recount in Florida. Florida State Law dictates the procedure to have a recount. George H. Bush only nominated 2 Supreme Court Justices. There are 9 total Supreme Court Justices. All Supreme Court Justices must be approved by Congress. No President “Appoints” someone to the Supreme Court. Every recount done by the news services after the Supreme court allowed the official recount to be stopped shows that BUSH DEFEATED GORE. The United States of American has an Electoral College for electing the President of the United States. The total popular vote does not matter. That is in our CONSTITUTION.

Non-Correction. The Supreme court swing votes were by his fathers appointees. The Supreme court is well known for leaving states to handle their own affairs. The State supreme court had ruled and normally it’s decision would have stood. Reagan Bush appointees delivered the presidency and ignored the irregular poll closings in black communities and the denying of votes of non felony convictions which is against the CONSTITUTION.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:

I am the first President in US history to enter office with a criminal record.

Correction: George Bush was convicted of DUI. That hardly constitutes a "criminal record" as stated.

Non-Correction. It is a criminal record when you fill out security clearance paperwork and can be a non-qualifying factor for clearance into certain programs.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.

Correction: The United States of American went to Afghanistan to defeat an Enemy that attached the United States of America. Remember September 11, 2001? Sadaam Hussein was a mass murder killing over 2 Million people and using WMD to kill 100,000 Kurds. Iraq is a better place today and the U.S. is more secure by removing the corrupt leader of Iraq that did have ties to various terrorist groups and admitted to developing WMDs. The UN sanction Iraq and after 4 years of non compliance the U.S. did what the U.N. laid out would happen if Iraq did not comply. The cost of a billion dollars per week is the cost we would have for the military whether or not they are in Iraq. There is not an additional billion dollars per week being spent.

Non-Correction: While true Afghanistan was warranted Iraq was not. Sadaam Hussein is not the only mass murderer in the world. Reagan did not think so when he gave him weapons of mass destruction. He only killed 5000 kurds with WMD’s and the Reagan administration thought it was a cynide gas used of which only Iran had at the time. Wrong that is an additional Billion dollars. Tell the Iraq people that it is a better place today. Form what I see the misery just transferred to another region. As soon as we leave the Sunnis will be victimized and Iran will have a bigger influence in the region. Never forget that a lot of that killing was a result of Bush the father encouraging an uprising and then leaving those people to die. It would be like saying that Lincoln should not have gone to war against the south. We do not go to war because mass murderers run countries.

I spent the US surplus and effectively bankrupted the US Treasury.

Correction: There never was a U.S. surplus. The tax cuts did not reduce the incoming revenues to the federal government. In 2001 the revenue to the federal government increased $32 Billion. That was after the Bush Tax cut. The tax cut was retroactive to the 1st of the year. This is a 1.52% Increase in revenue.

Non-Correction: It was a surplus meaning that the US was taking in more then it spent and it was projected that the dept would finally get paid off. The surplus has turned into a record deficit

I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in US history.

Correction: The Congress approves all budgets. The fact that the Congress spends more than what comes in is not the president’s fault.

Non-Correction: The president can veto any bill. Bill Clinton used it to shrink spending.

I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.

Correction: The record 12 Month period is for 2001 with most taking place in the first 6 months. Bush took office in January of 2001. The damage to people filing bankruptcy in this period was done prior to Mr. Bush taking office. You don't file bankruptcy unless you have been in trouble for some time. Bush was in office when they filed but it was under Clinton that they amassed the debt.

I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.

Correction: See above

Non-Correction: Conjecture without proof. Loss of a job can cause you to file. Something that happened a lot under Bush.

I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the US stock market.

Correction: The U.S. economy was in a decline in the last 6 months of 2000, before Bush was elected. The drop in the stock market was worsened by a Terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Remember September 11, 2001? The stock market has recovered to early 2001 levels and has increased 55% in the past year and is up 8% from December 2003 to February 2004.

Non-Correction: The stock market historically has done better under a democratic president. Consumer and Investor confidence determine how people purchase stocks. They were not impressed by the direction he was taking the country so stocks suffered.

In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month.

Correction: The 2 Million is not an accurate number. There were job losses during 2001. Most of these were do to an economy that was slowing down before Bush took office. The job loss rate is not worsening every month. We are coming out of a recession and the projection continue to show an improving economy.

Non-Correction: It has been 2 million since 2001. Most of which did not take place before Bush took over. Companies saw a pro business president and went shopping overseas for cheap employment.

I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.

Correction: President Clinton actually had the "Wealthiest" cabinet in the history of U.S. The tanker was built in 1993 and it is Chevron's practice to name tankers after members of the board of directors which Condoleezza Rice was from 1991 until 2001. The tanker was named for her before becoming National Security Advisor.

I set the record for most campaign fundraising trips by a US President.

Correction: This is not true. Actually Clinton did the most fund raising both away from and at the white house. Remember the stays in the Lincoln Bedroom for donations.

Non-Correction: For the amount of time he has been in office he has done the most fund raising and his record reelection war chest proves that fact. Clinton was at least at the white house raising money.

I am the all-time US and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations.

Correction: Corporations donate, on average, 42% to the Democrats and 57% to the Republicans. If the President is the record holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations remember that the Democrats have also set a new record for receiving corporate campaign donations.

Unions have donated $474 Million to political parties since 1990. Of that 93% has gone to the Democrats and 6% to the Republicans. That means that on average Unions donate $33.9 Million per year to the Democrats and $2.56 Million to the Republicans. Lawyers & Lobbyists have donated 69% to the Democrats and 31% to the Republicans. I think that’s where your Bias is.

Non-Correction: We are talking about now. Bush has 130 million and Kerry has 3 million.

My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in US history, Enron. My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the US Supreme Court during my election decision. I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history.

Correction: Enron officials are being tried by the courts now. Enron's accounting practices were a result of legislation passed by the former Clinton Administration. Bush actually proposed the legislation that changed the laws to prevent that from happening again.

Non-Correction: Clinton didn’t pass anything he may have failed to veto it. Kenneth Lay has not been indicted. Why does Bush need to propose anything the people that you say made the laws are the same ones sitting there now.

I presided over the biggest energy crisis in US history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.

Correction: Bush did preside over the largest energy crisis do to the former administration not having a competent energy policy and doing nothing to promote electrical generation or transmission. He refused to intervene because the courts were already handling the situation. That is the Law.

Non-Correction: The prior administration energy policies were blocked at ever turn by a hostile congress. A president and congress make the laws they do not have to wait for the courts to handle anything. The energy crisis was the result of a failed after war plan that did not have the support of the region. It allowed the other Opec members to have there way because Bush wanted revenge.

I presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history.

Correction: Gasoline prices are the highest they have ever been. Yes, so are U.S. wages. When Clinton was the President he too presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. History. The U.S. is a country that has capitalism. Supply and Demand. If the Demand for Gas goes up so does the price. The demand for Gasoline has never been higher. Americans love to drive and do. Also contributing to the high gas prices are the taxes added by the states to each gallon of gas. There is a 18.4 cent Federal tax on each gallon of gas and in Pennsylvania an additional 25.9 cent tax per gallon. That’s 44.3 cents per gallon, or 37% tax on a gallon of gas that costs $1.62.

Non-Correction. Adjusted for inflation Clinton presided over the lowest gas prices in US history. He also presided over the highest wage increase in US history. The gas taxes have not risen for those states that does not explain the gas prices. Every country in the world taxes gas. The UK adds over a dollar to each liter of gas.

I changed the US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.

Correction: US law does not allow a person convicted of a Felony from obtaining a US Contract. Bush did not and can not change this without an act of Congress.

Non-Correction. Presidential policy can change. We have laws and we have policy. It was against presidential policy to assassinate a world leader. Bush changed that. I have no idea if his point was correct. I do know that policy and law are different.

I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any President in US history.

Correction: No administration officials are Felons. This argument could be used for all modern day Presidents.

I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government.

Correction: After the failings of the bureaucracy of the U.S. after 9/11, President Bush created The Department of Homeland Security to protect the U.S. by allowing agencies to work better together. Congress has the ultimate goal of approving the formation of a new cabinet position and did so overwhelmingly.

Non-Correction. The combining of the FBI, CIA and NSA would have provided the same result with out spending my money.

I've broken more international treaties than any President in US history.

Correction: President Bush has not broken any treaties. A treaty must be approved by the U.S. Congress. Enforcement of a treaty is also the responsibility of Congress. If Bush does break a treaty it was with the consent of Congress. The ABM Treaties were signed with the USSR which is no longer in existence. Bush also has not agreed to new treaties such as the Kyoto protocols which has more stringent rules for the US and other industrial countries and less stringent rules for Third World Countries.

I am the first President in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the Human Rights Commission.

Correction: The United States was not a member of the Human Rights Commission for 2002 only. The Human Rights Commission has members such as China and Uganda. By the way, Uganda has been condemned by the Human Rights Commission for a February 21, 2004 massacre of 190 people.

I withdrew the US from the World Court of Law.

Correction: The World Court of Law would have superceded your Constitutional Rights. The Bill of Rights would no longer have any meaning. Being an American would be meaningless. If you want the World Court of Law. Move out of America.

Non-Correction: We withdrew due to the court retaining the right to detain and put on trial US military members for war crimes. Withdrawing did not solve that. If a US Military member is captured in another country they can prosecute him by whatever means that country chooses.

I refused to allow inspector's access to US "prisoners of war" detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.

Correction: The Geneva Convention was followed and Inspectors were allowed to see the detainees at Guantonomo Bay. They technically were not subject to the rules of the Geneva Convention because they were not "Prisoners of War".

Non-Correction: If they are not prisoners of war then they are required certain rights as other countries afford the US service members that commit crimes in there countries. This has put at risk US military around the world.

I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US election).

Correction: This is the United States of America. Our election laws are policed by our people and the courts not the U.N. The U.N. has no authority.

Non-Correction: Then the UN had no authority to approve any resolutions on IRAQ. You can’t pick and choose. We want the UN to do it in IRAQ and other countries. The people and the courts failed for 100 years and counting for blacks in America. I welcome them here for next election.

I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any President since the advent of television.

Correction: The President had his press secretary keep the public informed. How does the President not being on Television more hurt the Country?

Non-Correction: The president is the leader of the country. I did not elect a press secretary. I want to see my president in action. I want to look at his eyes to tell me that my country will put people to work here not in India. Confidence is what Reagan and Clinton had and it spread to the people. The Bushes do not have it and it shows.

I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period.

Correction: This is not true. While away from the White House any President does not get away from the work. With Briefings and other meeting any President will work 3-4 Hours a day while on "Vacation". Remember the Job of President is 24/7.

After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in US history.

Correction: The use of the word Presided is key here. George Bush was in office less than 8 months at the time of the attacks of 9/11. All the failures in the Intelligence community have been found to date back to the early 90's. President Clinton is the one who failed by not only cutting the U.S. intelligence gathering capabilities, but also not allowing the FBI, CIA and NSA to share information. Prior to 9/11, Clinton presided over the worst domestic terrorist attack at Oklahoma City.

Non-Correction: He had 8 months to put a handle on things. How long did he need? The FBI, CIA and NSA have been run like this long before Clinton. It dates back to the 60’s. However having worked with the NSA and CIA I know that they do a lot of sharing. They work together. The FBI shared it’s intelligence with the president and with the information that the Germans provided should have been a clear picture to anyone. The very fact that nobody got fired and Bush wasted 2 trying to get Saddam made the failure even worse. As a result of the public war and how we tracked people in Iraq. It has made it difficult to get Osama.

I garnered the most sympathy for the US after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the US the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

Correction: The United States after 9/11 did not allow anyone other than the United States to be in charge of the security of its people. If France, Germany and Belgium don't like it tough. Remember that Germany and France were the ones with the big oil and oil equipment supply contracts with Iraq. Our strong stance on Foreign policy caused countries like Libya to fully halt and disclose their WMD programs.

Non-Correction: The united States depends on other countries for intel and to keep track of terrorist. If we piss of the world then How are we going to get humint? Remember that Harkin had contracts with Osama Bin Laden also. Ask Bush? Libya is small compared to North Korea and Iran. Did Bush call Libya the axis of evil?

I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.

Correction: The 15 Million people is an exaggeration These numbers were from the “organizers”. The official count is substantially less. We are the United States of America. Not The United States of The World.

Non-Correction. The British felt that way also when the sun did not set on the British empire. The security of the US is dependent on maintaining good ties with the G7. Our economy depends on it.

I am the first President in US history to order an unprovoked pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of US citizens, and the world community.

Correction: The U.N under Resolution 1441 dated November 8, 2002 and approved unanimously by the security council, gave Iraq 30 days to comply with previous resolution to disclose all information of and all inspection of any and all facilities that may possibly be used in the production or distribution of WMDs. Failure to do so would allow military actions to take place to fulfill 1441. They did not comply. We made them. The U.S. Citizens supported the use of force in Iraq . A Washington Post Poll in December of 2002 show that U.S. Citizens were in favor 62% to 35%. A January 2003 Fox Poll showed it in favor 67% to 25%. A CNN-Time Poll of the same time showed a 60% in Favor 33% against. The numbers are that the American People were 2-1 in Favor of the use of force in Iraq. As far as the rest of the world. We are Americans.

Non-Correction: They did comply. There are no WMD’s Presidents do not run the country on public opinion. Any one with half a brain knows that the public opinion was based on lies from the Bush administration. Bush himself said that the intel he had was the same intel that Clinton had. Well Clinton used that Intel to launch Cruise missle attacks on all CIA identified targets with WMD’s. Well if you blow up the buildings then the agents would have been released. Our Intel determined that that Intel was wrong and no further action was taken. Why would you use the same Intel to go to war with?

I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families - in wartime.

Correction: This is a false statement. Bush’s budget cut the percentage that the benefits were to increase. Each vet still received MORE money than the previous year. Duty Benefits were not cut.

Non-Correction: Bush cut Vet benefits and then pushed them off to Medicaid. He said we did not have the money to support it. Then he sent $80 Billion to Iraq. He was also suppose to fund the GI bill for everyone. Didn’t happen. Also was suppose to make Korea a tax free zone and hostile fire. Unfunded.

In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends.

Correction: Bush never lied. The British Intelligence Agencies, the CIA, The Senate Intelligence Committee (which John Edwards and Dianne Feinstein are members), The UN and the NSA all reached the same conclusion. Iraq has WMDs. Bush never blamed the British. He stated that they came to the same conclusion.

Non-Correction: Yes they all initially reached the same conclusion. No conclusive evidence of WMD’s. It only takes so many times for your boss the leader of the free world to lean on you for you to find something. Which basically came down to defectors that needed a way in the country. The UN never reached that conclusion. The senate intel committee used the half baked evidence that they were provided that turned up false.

I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.

Correction: 71% of people that were at a protest in Europe against the Iraq war had that view. That’s like asking the people at a McDonalds if they like beef.

Non-correction: It was 71% of the UK.

I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," a WMD.

Correction: The Tactical Bunker Buster is not classified as a WMD. Critics of nuclear weapons made the charge.

I have so far failed to fulfil my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden [sic] to justice.

Correction: Were still looking. We’ll find him. Hopefully alive like Sadaam Hussein so he can be tried for his crimes.

Non-Correction: If we didn’t invade Iraq we would have found him because he would have never stoped using his Sat phone.

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed and unavailable for public view.

Correction: The records are sealed by Texas state law passed before Bush was Governor.

All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

Correction: Again, Bush did not seal them. The law did. Remember that Bill Clinton never unsealed his medical records and this was never an issue with the left.

Non-Correction: Medical record are private and protected. SEC investigations are not.

All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review.

Correction: Under the Freedom of Information Act these records are available.

Non-Correction: Not all information under the FOIA can be reviewed. It can be sealed for national security reasons or any excuse they want to use.
